Curriculum Overview - Term 1

This year we have a very busy year filled with exciting experiences which cover many interesting topics! Activities over the next couple of weeks will help children familiarize themselves with their peers and the expectations of Prep. We will also be working on our Class Vision Statement and focusing on how we want our class to look and feel for the year. Specialist Lessons PE and Music is on Wednesday and Friday. Library borrowing day is Thursday. Curriculum Overview In Religion this term, we will be exploring how our actions can be like Jesus, through the Creation Story and the story of the Good Samaritan. We will also explore the season of Lent and the Easter Story. For our History and Geography Unit we will be exploring the children’s families and identifying places that are special to our families. In English we will be building the student’s oral language skills, developing phonological awareness, reading and comprehension skills and developing knowledge of letter sound relationships. In Mathematics we will be working on the numbers 1-10 and various mathematical concepts to build upon their growing awareness.
