Term 1, Week 2, 2017!

What a fantastic first week we had in Prep Maroon. Thank You to all the parents for helping and supporting the Prep M children as they transition into primary school. We have a wonderful group of learners in our classroom and I cannot wait for the year of learning and growth ahead.

Reminders:

*Munch and Crunch:

Please make sure to pack Munch and Crunch for your child. It is expected that all children participate in Munch and Crunch. Munch and Crunch consists of a piece of fruit or vegetables. If possible can you please make sure it is put in a separate container with your child's name clearly labelled. This Brain Snack will only be approximately 10 minutes so please keep this in mind when preparing. Munch and Crunch gives students an energy boost and helps to refuel their concentration in the classroom!

*Kit Folders

Kit folders (Keep in Touch) must be brought to school daily. If you have notes to send to school please place them in the Kit folder and we will check them every morning. KIT folders will be sent home every afternoon, so please make sure to check if any important notes or messages have been sent. Every child must have a KIT folder.

*Morning Routine

As our first week of Prep is over, it is important that the students build independence.

Morning Procedure

All prep students will be lining up in the undercover area (behind the PM marking on the ground). A bell will ring at 8.35am and all students should be seated in their lines with their bags (please do not bring them to the classroom before school). Please make sure you have already said your goodbyes before they are seated. After a whole school prayer, we will be sent to classrooms in our lines. PARENTS/GUARDIANS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO WALK THEIR CHILD TO THE CLASSROOM UNLESS THEY SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE FIRST. If your child is experiencing difficulties saying goodbye, either myself, Mrs Delaney, Ms Andrews or an administration representative will walk them to the classroom and settle them. This is an important transitional strategy so that your child does not expect you to walk them to the room each day. Additionally, I believe that it is important for Prep children to carry their own bags/belongings to the classroom so that they learn the valuable skill of independence. The children will also be unpacking their own bags each morning and continuing to pack their bags each afternoon to ensure the skill of independence is being practiced and learnt. Afternoon Procedure In the afternoon, the children will be walked to the undercover area to be collected at 2.55 pm by parents, siblings or After School Care. Our class will be waiting directly infront of the tuck shop, in the blue rectangle box marked on the ground. Please be aware that children are to wait with their class and will only be dismissed when the bell goes. Please remind your child that it is very important that they say Goodbye before leaving, so that I know they are safe. Any children left after this time will be walked to the pick up area where they are supervised until 3.25 pm. Thank you for your support.
