Home Reading Program!

Hi All.

This week is very exciting. We will be starting our home reading program. A note will be sent home in your child’s KIT FOLDER with more details – Please read this.

This will involve daily work on letters and sounds or home reading. Please remember to always work on popcorn words every night.

As the children become ready, a small booklet will be sent home in their KIT FOLDER – this is for you to keep track of your child’s reading. These books are repetitive and simple and your child will keep it to ready every night before it is changed. If your child is finding the book easy – that’s okay! We are developing fluency so please keep reading.

The children who are not quite ready for home readers will be given a letter and sound booklet to work on. It is important that students are working on their Phase 1 and 2 letter and sounds – which will be attached to the booklet – also once they are confident and know their gold popcorn words – they will then move on to home readers. Please remember that every child is different and develops at different rates.
