WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF PREP!

I am so excited to meet you all and to start this wonderful journey together.

I will post weekly updates on this blog of classroom learning, routines, events and any other important information.

On the first day, please walk to our classroom with your child's booklist items after 8.20am.

When you arrive at the classroom (our door has colourful popsicles on it) you will find colourful tubs. Please place lunch boxes, munch and crunch, water bottles and KIT folders into the labelled boxes. You can place booklist items on the back desk. I have placed a little goodie for your child so please don’t forget to take that home with you! Inside the classroom activities will be set up for your child – please come inside, help them get settled and don’t forget to take a first day picture (If you do, I will take some during the day – Keep an eye out on twitter). When it’s time for goodbyes I will ring the bell and ask all the students to gather on the carpet area.

During the first week of school you are welcome to collect your child from the classroom after 2.45pm. Please note that this is only for week 1. This routine will continue for the first week of school.

From the second week of school onwards, students will be required to line-up behind the PM marking on the ground in the Undercover Area. Please make sure you have said your goodbyes before they have seated.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO WALK THEIR CHILD TO THE CLASSROOM UNLESS THEY SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE FIRST.

If your child is experiencing difficulties saying goodbye, either myself, Mrs Delaney or an administration representative will walk them to the classroom and settle them. This is an important transitional strategy so that your child does not expect you to walk them to the room each day. Additionally, I believe that it is vitally important for Prep children to carry their own bags and belongings to the classroom so that they learn the valuable skill of independence. The children will also be unpacking their own bags each morning and continuing to pack their bags each afternoon to ensure the skill of independence is being practiced and learned.

In the afternoons I will walk your child to undercover area to be collected at 2.55pm. Our waiting spot is right outside the tuckshop. Before taking your child I will ask them to say Goodbye to me – to make sure that I know they are safe. If you cannot collect your child from the undercover area I will walk them down to white post (pick up area) where you can collect them.
