WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF PREP!
I am so excited to meet you all and start this wonderful journey together.
We are going to have a fantastic first year of school!
I will post weekly updates on this blog. These updates will include classroom learning, routines and upcoming important events. I will notify you on twitter when this is available for your viewing.
I don't want to overload you with too much information for the first week, but I would encourage you to read the "information" tab on our class website. It contains all the important information you need to help you in the first week at school. In Week 2 (Wednesday 6th Feb) there will be a 'Parent Information Night' at which we will outline everything you need to know and this will be an opportunity for you to ask us any questions you may have.
One noticeable change you may find (particularly if you have had previous children in Prep at St Bernardine's) is our new school behaviour policy. This year at St Bernardines, we have moved away from the old "school rules" and are introducing the Behaviour Matrix - or expectations of behaviour. Research strongly supports a continuum of behaviour that focuses on teaching children what is expected of them in a variety of situations. Students will learn to take responsibility for their actions and taught strategies to help them do this. In Prep Maroon, I will be following an approach to behaviour management that will help them to behave appropriately through teaching of expectations. Please see the school's new "Student Behaviour Support Plan" (available this week) on the school website for further information.
I can't wait to meet you all on Wednesday! Don't forget to bring ALL your booklist items on this day!
